Our organisation is involved in areas such as:
Advocacy and lobbying for Deaf rights and accessibility Supporting Deaf survivors of abuse in care Promoting and teaching New Zealand Sign Language (NZSL) Community engagement and social connection Supporting Deaf individuals to access services and information Raising awareness of Deaf culture and communication needs
As a volunteer-led organisation, we rely heavily on grants, sponsorships, donations, and community funding to continue providing services and support to the Deaf community throughout New Zealand.

About the Role
Deaf Action New Zealand Inc is currently seeking a passionate and experienced Volunteer Grant Writer to assist our organisation in securing funding through grant applications and funding proposals.
This is an important volunteer role that will help ensure the sustainability and future growth of our organisation and the services we provide to Deaf people and the wider community.
We are looking for someone who has experience preparing successful funding applications and who understands how to communicate the impact of community organisations to funding bodies, trusts, and philanthropic organisations.
Key Responsibilities Research funding and grant opportunities relevant to the organisation Prepare and submit grant applications and funding proposals Assist with developing funding strategies Work alongside committee members to gather information required for applications Help maintain records of grants applied for and outcomes Assist with reporting requirements for successful grants where needed
Skills & Experience
We are seeking someone who has:
Experience writing grant applications or funding proposals Strong written communication skills Good attention to detail The ability to work independently An understanding of the community or non-profit sector A passion for supporting Deaf communities and accessibility
Experience working with charities, incorporated societies, or community organisations would be highly valued.
